Spatial Affordance Project
Students in City Studio have been doing amazing work as "data flâneurs," using Google Street View to record spatial affordances in the Pedregal de Santo Domingo, a barrio of Mexico City (see some of these spatial affordances circled in the image above).
This is part of a larger research project on everyday adaptations in Mexico City. So far we have 1200 entries in our Airtable database, with well over 18,000 data points! This shows not only how diligent and observant the students are, but how rich this neighborhood is with every day spatial adaptations and strategies.
